Kids | Personality and Butterflies

I love being able to watch my siblings experience things for the first time, whether it be their first few peddles on a bike, their first time swimming without a floatie, or (in this case) their first time getting to hold a butterfly on their nose.

Last week my youngest sis got herself dressed in an adorable outfit and asked me to take some pictures of her outside. This girl has the BIGGEST personality of anyone I have ever met and she knows how to work the camera. She's only 4 years old, but I swear she thinks she is 16 or something. All of these poses you're about to see were "unscripted" - she did them all on her own.

I know that the picture below is somewhat blurry, but I just had to show you her face right after the butterfly was put on her nose. She wasn't too sure what to think about it.

My entire family all agrees that if there was ever to be a real-life person "Monster's Inc." movie...she'd definitely be Boo.

The Navy Yards | Part III

After a quick change of clothes, Fifi once again worked her modeling magic on the Navy Yards dock.

Can you say, "HELLO BEAUTIFUL?!?!"

On the second picture below, I was just about to take the picture when my mom accidentally stepped in front of my camera! You can see a little blur of her purple shirt - hey mom!!!! :)

The Navy Yard Shoot | Part II

Alex and Ashley were our adorable couple for the day, and they could not have done a better job! They have been married for 2 years (this month is their anniversary) and you can just see how much they love each other. The two of them were such troopers and were willing to do whatever we asked them to - even standing in water where kids were swimming (who were literally trying to soak them)!

Ashley and Alex, thank you so much for coming out into D.C. for the day and it was such a pleasure meeting you!

Yesterday you got to see the awesome bridge and rock/flower pile we were shooting at, but today you'll get to see what was on the other side of the bridge!

Behind the waterfall: it was CRAZY LOUD and we were literally screaming over the noise to pose these two. They were great though and just did their thing. :)
After a quick change of clothes, we walked over to this old brick building that was super cool.

SOOO much cuteness!!

The Navy Yard Shoot | Part I

Last week we had the best weather Virginia has had all month long! All the way from Monday to Sunday, it was clear skies and sunshine to the max, which meant more opportunities to spend time outside and take some rockin' pictures. Sunday afternoon, my Mom and I met up with the monthly The FIX group she leads to practice posing and getting correct exposure in extreme light conditions. The Navy Yards in Washington D.C. could not have been a more fabulous location for the day, and the weather proved to be absolutely perfect throughout the shoot.

We had three fab models for us on Sunday - one gorgeous model (Fifi) and a married couple (Ashley and Alex). They did a wonderful job and totally looked like pros in front of the cameras.

Today you'll get to see some of my favorites of Fifi from the beginning of the shoot - make sure to stop by the blog throughout the week because there will be a lot more pictures from the Navy Yards up soon!

As I said before, the Navy Yards was such a gorgeous location.
I mean, come on! Look at those lines on this awesome bridge!!
This was the first picture I took of Fifi - I wasn't kidding when I said she was a pro.

oh my goodness...the hair!!!! I die.

Lots of people were walking and biking on this bridge while we were shooting, and they kept shouting "Congratulations!!" at Fifi. She always broke out into a grin when they passed by...

Doesn't Fifi look like a mermaid with the rock and the water behind her?!

The FIX - Dulles Studio

Three weeks ago, a group of photographers from NOVA, Maryland, and Delaware got together to learn about and practice with studio lighting. We had three fabulous models for the day (one of them being a fellow photographer) and we all had an absolute blast. Here are some of my favorite shots from the day.

Annapolis MD | Paul + Jess Part Three

Eeek! Okay, so I have been anxiously waiting to post these pictures!!! These are my favorite of the whole day!

While we were shooting inside the parking garage, a guy who lived in the apartment building gave us a ride in the elevator so we could shoot at different levels. Can you say, "Hello, awesome person!?" Before we got off, someone heard him say that the roof of the parking garage was really cool, so long story short, while the rest of our group was posing Caitlyn and Matt on level 2, another photographer and I took Paul and Jess up to the roof to check it out. It.was.perfect. Open space, awesome light, and fog out in the distance. Well, after a bit of posing on some cool stairs, Paul and Jess took out their umbrellas (which totally matched their outfits...) and began letting their true personalities show. Jess said that Paul has a goofy personality and always manages to make others laugh. Well, she was right! Paul had us all in stitches!

Jess, you are stunning!

haha! LOVE IT!

Okay, so this next two are really funny. Paul and Jess fixed their umbrellas for a "nice" picture when the wind suddenly got crazy and blew Paul's back again!

Stop it!! Just looking at these pictures make me smile! You guys are adorable.

Thank you both SO much for letting me photograph you on Saturday! It was great meeting you, and I hope you like all of the pictures! From all of the photographers that day, you probably have a million to choose from! :)
