Nail Polish, Macbooks, and Coffee

how’s that for a title, huh? Well, I assure you, its going to be a fun post. But, before the pictures, I want to point out that the “nail polish” part of this post is just for Michelle {hi Michelle!}. You see, she wanted to know what colors my mom and I favored our nails to be painted with…hence their appearance on the blog. I refuse to photograph my feet, which is probably best for both you and me, hence the photos of the cute, little bottles on my front porch swing. Hence me actually talking about nail polish for four sentences. hence, hence, hence.

nailpolish

orange, yellow, and lime green are my favorite colors. I don’t really love pink on my fingers; only on my toes. {Causes the eye to not examine the feet the bright color is on.} Not so much a blue person after my total tom-boy craze phase in 5th and 6th grade. My mom loves blue though, hence it sitting next to the green.

I apologize about the many “hence”s. You use it once, and it just sticks.

I have to say, though, that I’m not a fan of the insta-dri stuff {notice yellow bottle above}. But, it’s my fault that I don’t like it – when I paint my nails, I have to do multiple layers. It’s the OCD in me. Well, last summer right before my missions trip I painted my toes with the yellow – with lots of layers. That missions trip lasted for two weeks, meaning good, faithful yellow stayed on too. Rather strongly I might add. Anyways, when it came time for me to take it off, all those layers became a curse. The color wouldn’t budge. Hence all of my toes had a strange, yellowish tint to them for about two weeks after I painfully took off the polish.

yeah….I wore socks those two weeks.

Moral of the story: when using insta-dri, don’t do multiple layers. Your toes will thank you.

mac

I just got a MacBook last week as a graduation gift for me to use for college. Let me just announce…

I LOVE MY MACBOOK!!!!

So, I am officially addicted to PW’s cold coffee recipe {since we don’t drink *real* coffee, we substitute it for Teeccino. It’s amazing…ya gotta try it}. OH.MY.GOODNESS. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

Pure, creamy, heavenly deliciousness.

A Graduation Gift

This weekend my grandparents stayed over at our new house and brought with them love, lots of laughs, and a special graduation gift. I kinda already knew what it was {since I had asked them for it}, but that didn’t stop me from squealing and jumping up and down like a little kid when I opened up the box. I lifted it’s heavy form out from its cave…and it was love at first sight.

I guess it would probably be appropriate for me to now tell you what it is that made so excited.

*drum roll please* DUN DA DA DAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!

*angel music plays*

Here are 3 {of a lot} of my favorite learning shots with my new lens {that desperately needs a name, by the way. I have this weird tendency to name my “hobby possessions”. Don’t ask me why…but if you have a good name, feel free to share!}. Sorry, I digress…

I didn’t even realize I took a perfectly divided picture (above) until now! I love my lens even more.

My Prince Charming

is 6 pounds and furry all over. He gives me kisses in the morning and follows me around all day. He is a bit of a lazy fellow – but is ready to bark at any “intruder” who comes knocking on our door. He’s crazy, but I love him anyway. My prince is my dog, Prince Caspian. :)(1-of-14)

Cute Is…{Part 3}

the way you laugh.

The little man followed us outside with his hands deep inside his jean pockets. The brown shoes he wore clopped noisily on the stepping stones and he gave a soft smile. He stood and watched from a distance as his sister hammed it up in front of the camera – fully well knowing that he was next in line. He knew the drill: pose, smile, wait, and repeat.

He heard me call his name and silently tromped over – sitting stiffly next to his excited sister. But from behind the camera, he saw something that couldn’t help but make him crack a grin. His mom – waving her arms wildly from behind my back, pretending to come tickle me.

Cute Is…{Part 1}

what she is made of!

This morning was beautiful. The sun was shining…the grass was green…and my youngest sister’s adorable face was simply begging to be photographed. So, up the stairs we went into her fairy bedroom {being chased by a big, bad monster on our way if you care to know} and picked out an outfit only a princess would wear. She anxiously danced around as I tried to clip a bow into her hair and ran excitedly to show the rest of the crew her “lovely” attire. She smiled and waved as she pranced out the door – following me into the warm, summer breeze that awaited us.

New Look!

Well, what do you think? I’m guessing you obviously just noticed a big change when you clicked onto my photography blog right now. The colors, theme, header….everything is different! My mom lovingly (and patiently) re-designed my photography blog today after I had come to her with my new idea. She did a FABULOUS job and I love it! It’s fresh, fun, and a whole lot more ME. {thank  you mom!}

On a slightly different note…

I’m going to start posting a lot more selfies – especially now that it is summer. I think it is really important for any photographer to step out from behind the camera and get in front of it – to gain a better understanding of what their subjects feel during a shoot. I’m also really big (as is my mom) on self-esteem and learning to love yourself the way God made you. Self-portraits are a way to capture your personality and give you confidence in the fact that you are BEAUTIFUL – not matter what others say. At the bottom of the blog there is a button with me holding a sign that says “I Am Beautiful”. If you are interested – join our flickr group and add a picture of yourself with an I AM BEAUTIFUL sign!

There are going to be a lot of fun posts heading your way this summer…so sit back, grab a snack, invite some friends, and laugh along with me as I travel down the road of photography.

Good to WOW–Bubble Shots

So, first off….let me explain why I was not able to put up my SOOC shots of the bubbles on Monday. The computer that I use for photography which has all of my pictures, light room, and Photoshop on it supposedly became fried when we lost power for less than 10 seconds the other day. It won’t turn on….nothing. But, thank goodness I had already edited my bubble shots and uploaded them onto *flickr*.
