Flash, Reflectors, and Funny Faces

I got the 50mm f.1.8 lens for Christmas and am loving it! I’m taking some online tutorials on photography (also being taught by my mom) and tried out some of what I learned. Since I didn’t have any handy dandy reflectors lying around the house, I simply used a piece of white poster board.

Jordan without the reflector = pretty picture, but harsh shadow on one side of her face

Jordan with reflector = pretty picture with even skin tones on both sides of her face

Don’t you just love the faces she gives me?

Now, these next two crack me up. When you tell Noah to smile, he starts moving his mouth into crazy positions until he thinks he is “smiling”. Those buck teeth get me every time…

Hope you all had a a very Merry Christmas!

So Delicious

Alright, so I’m not that great at the whole “waiting till tomorrow” thing. I gave in and had to post the food pictures today. Have any cool ideas for food photography? Leave me a comment and share!

All of these shots were done on my kitchen table with a white poster board behind the food item. The blue and red colors were just pieces of paper taped to the white poster board and I used a plain piece of white paper underneath the subject to give it that “studio” feel.

this shot is SOOC (all of them except for a bit of contrast)

Now onto my personal favorites….

Giggles and Grumps

My sister Naomi (3 years old) is a constant victim of being a subject for my photography. She loves being the center of attention, but when she doesn’t get exactly what she wants, her cooperation begins to fade.
